Program News - 2009 :  Over the next 5 years, EOS Alliance will be focusing on three main strategic priorities; Reducing Human Impacts on Climate Change, Resource Conservation, and Preservation and Restoration of Biodiversity. Below you will find projects and programs we are involved with, as we work toward meeting these areas of focus. To learn about additional events and volunteer opportunities related to the strategic priorties, please visit our Events Calendar.

Restoration Projects: EOS Alliance is working to restore the Maple School Natural Area, a 15-acre greenspace on Beacon Hill that has been devastated by invasive ivy and blackberry. Join us to remove these invasive plants, lay down mulch, and plant native species to create a beautiful and healthy community greenspace. If you would like more information or are interested in volunteering please contact events@nweec.org.

School-based Programs: EOS Alliance is part of the Washington Green Schools Program. We work with various schools in the Seattle area on green building projects such as setting up recylcing and composting systems, and providing in-classroom environmental education to students. If you would like more information about our programs, or would like us to come to your school, contact Shannon Luoma at sluoma@nweec.org.

The Earth Project at Cooper Elementary: The Earth Project is a cooperative, grant-funded environmental education program currently being implemented at Cooper Elementary School in West Seattle. In conjunction with the Nature Consortium and Camp Long, The Earth Project includes the construction and integration of a native plant garden, the inclusion of arts and technology in environmental curricula, and weekly in-class environmental education lessons for students.

Programs for Kids: Check out our biking for kids website! It's full of great information and fun stuff to get students practicing sustainable transportation at an early age: Biking for Kids

Earth Day Festival 2009!: The Earth Day Festival will be Saturday, April 18, 2009! If you are interested in volunteering for Earth Day or any other restoration party contact us at events@nweec.org.
