Board of Directors

We are currently seeking board candidates interested in joining our wonderful board of directors. Successful candidates will have a strong environmental ethic, good communication skills, and a passion for increasing environmental awareness.

Annual Time Commitment:
Meetings (in Seattle area): The board meets for two hours - five times per year (12 hours/year).
Retreat (near Seattle): The board has an annual weekend retreat (48 hours/year)
Committees: Board members must also join one or more committees which also meet six times per year (12 hours/year).
Preparation for meetings and other work: 28 hours/year
Total: 100 hours/year

Advisory Groups

Environmental Education Advisor: Provide guidance for EOS's Teacher Training Program and Environmental Education Program. We are currently working with several public schools developing new curricula, creating schools gardens, and creating native plant habitats in their schoolyards. Advisors will help develop environmental education projects and teacher training events.

Public Environmental Awareness Advisor: Provide guidance for EOS's Environmental Awareness Program. We are currently hosting public lectures, workshops, films and conferences throughout the Pacific Northwest. Advisors will help develop and plan events intended to foster sustainable behavior in the general public.

Environmental Science Advisor: Provide guidance for EOS's environmental science programs offered through the Northwest Environmental Training Center (NWETC). We host professional training workshops and conferences designed to meet the evolving training needs of environmental professionals throughout the Pacific Northwest. Advisors will help develop new course ideas, recruit instructors, and help promote events amongst their colleagues. Environmental professionals are encouraged to apply.

Annual Time Commitment:
Meetings: Advisors meet for two hours - six times per year (12 hours/year).
Volunteer: Advisors work on tasks between meetings (12 hours/year)
Total: 24 hours/year

Professional Environmental Training Advisor

Volunteer Opportunities

Professional Training Program: Share your environmental science knowledge with environmental professionals throughout the region.

Earth Club - After School Program: Assist elementary-age students learn about environmental science and sustainability (weekday afternoons).

Schoolyard Steward: Help monitor and care for native plant habitats, wetlands, and gardens at schools in your area.

Public Events: Help EOS staff and volunteers host public environmental lectures and movies in your area (weekday evenings).

Public Presentations: Share your environmental knowledge with the general public by giving lectures in your area.

School Presentations: Share your expertise with students in your area.

Professional Services: Share your accounting, legal, fundraising, and other skills with EOS. We would be delighted if you or someone you know can assist us in this way.
