U.S. Secretary of Energy Chu and Senator Murray Host Energy Roundtable at EOS Alliance Headquarters EOS Alliance hosted a reception and roundtable discussion on energy and the regional economy on Friday, October 2, 2009. The event was chaired by Senator Patty Murray and featured U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu; and the Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Nancy Sutley. During the event, regional business and government leaders discussed ways the clean energy sector can contribute to economic recovery, and ways stakeholders can collaborate to make Washington a national green energy hub. »Read the blog post |

$995,000 U.S. Department of Energy Grant to Develop Regional Carbon Capture and Storage Training Program EOS Alliance has been awarded a three year contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop and implement a regional carbon capture and storage technology transfer and training program. EOS Alliance is working in partnership with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to research, develop, and disseminate best practices for geologic sequestration of carbon to reduce industrial impacts on climate change. » Read the U.S. DOE press release |

Mine Reclamation Training Hosted in Nsobe, Zambia by EOS Alliance EOS Alliance provided professional training for hard rock mine closure and reclamation in Nsobe, Zambia. The training was August 21 through September 4, 2009 and covered the proper procedures for preventing and remediating groundwater pollution from closed and abandoned mines, including how to deal with acid mine drainage, heavy metal pollution, leakage from petroleum storage tanks and leaching from nickel, tin, and uranium mine waste. |

Energy Conservation Pilot Project Serves 95 Homes in 8 Weeks The first phase of our Green Blocks Summer Pilot Project was completed August 28 serving 95 homes on 10 city blocks in 8 weeks. Each home received a detailed assessment of their home's energy, water, and landscaping efficiency, as well as, an evaluation of their stormwater runoff and potential for solar energy. Each Green Blocks home also received an Energy Performance Score (EPS). EPS is being considered for inclusion in the Northwest Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to allow home buyers to consider energy efficiency during their purchase decision. |
